[INDIE] And now for something refreshingly different… The pointed toes and wiggling legs (and ears, and nostrils) that recur through the video for Baio’s single “Sister of Pearl” make for a perfectly charming introduction to the solo project of Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio (who, yup, is distantly related to Scott Baio… as well as Steve Buscemi, since we knew you were wondering). His 2012 debut solo EP, Sunburn, hinted at what his recent full-length, The Names, confirms: Baio is the groove at the root of Vampire Weekend that keeps you moving. It’s an electro-organic blend of toe-tapping yummy sung by a guy with the voice of an oddball crooner—you don’t want to miss his visit to Buffalo at The Waiting Room on Friday, April 8 as part of 107.7’s You Saw Them First series.
