[POP] Under his Selector Dub Narcotic alias, Calvin Johnson delivers a mishmash of punk, soul, indie and dancehall that’s kind of hard to pinpoint. It’s kinda goofy but it’ll also get moving, even if involuntarily. His latest single, “Hotter Than Hot” could be described as maybe something like James Murphy meets the B-52’s and it comes from the record This Party Is Just Getting Started, which is 14 tracks of dance punk oddities recorded in 2016 in his famous Dub Narcotic Studio. When Selector Dub Narcotic comes to Sugar City on Friday, April 7, he’ll be joined by equally eccentric Buffalo punk band Mallwalkers and minimal pop duo Welks Mice.
