Spiral Scratch Records: The Last Goodbye

[GOODBYE] Unfortunately, Buffalo is about to lose one of its few record stores this week. Spiral Scratch Records will call it quits after a final DIY punk show and record sale this Saturday, March 18. The building that has housed Spiral Scratch for the last several years, 1109 Elmwood Avenue near the corner of Forest, has been slated for demolition and store owner Dave Palumbo has said that the store could not survive another move. Needless to say, this is a bummer for record diggers in the Elmwood village (unrelated double bummer: Lenny Silver, the founder of another great local record store, Record Theatre, died this week at the age of 90). You’ll have one more chance to clear out the inventory at Spiral Scratch, however, this Saturday—and word has it they’ve even brought in a fresh stock of records just for the occasion. You can also enjoy the music of some of the store’s staple bands, Soul Butchers, Be Locust or Alone, The Good, and Mark Norris
