Chad Valley and Humble Braggers
[INDIE] If you’re new to the music of Chad Valley, you may be tempted to check out his latest album Entirely New Blue, released in 2015, but do yourself a favor and start with his 2012 debut album Young Hunger. The expertly crafted neo-R&B album flew under the radar at the time, though it featured cameos from hot acts like Twin Shadow, Glasser, and Active Child. It seems like 2012 was eons ago, musically, and although Young Hunger was an incredibly strong debut album, it still maintained that bedroom producer-vibe that was popular at the time. You can then compare that to the latest album from the Oxford, England-based musician, which is decidedly more mature and textural, landing somewhere between the electro-soul of James Blake and Bon Iver, the artful pop of Neon Indian, and the straightforward synth pop of M83 or Empire of the Sun. It’ll be a special treat, then, when Chad Valley comes to Nietzsche’s this Friday, March 10. Buffalo’s own rising indie-pop stars Humble Braggers co-headline the event, at which they’ll celebrate the release of their new record I Know Better, I’m No Better. Indie rock bands dreambeaches and electro-pop newcomers Bottler round out the lineup.
