Cafe Taza 10th Anniversary

[VARIETY] When it opened ten years ago, the tiny Cafe Taza was a throwback to Allentown’s Bohemian low-rent roots in a neighborhood where artists and musicians were slowly being crowded out. Nowadays it’s even more the case and yet still Taza thrives as a center for great coffee and almost necessary conversation; an oasis of sorts from the laptop work cafes that crowd the landscape, multiple screens for every person and relative silence between them. The survival of such a space is a testament to the humble dedication of its proprietor Brena Newell and her staff through the years. It’s worth raising a glass or three for their ten year party in Babeville’s 9th Ward this Saturday: weirdo rock from the Bear, Americana vibes from the Observers, street violinist David Adamczyk, and drag performer She Lives. There will also be an art auction from other members of the Taza  A night of Elmwood/Allen-inflected strangeness that will warm even the coldest cockles of your heart.
