Exit Ritual : A Night of Rhythmic Noise, IDM, Dark Ambient & Death Industrial

[INDUSTRIAL] In 1987, Manchester’s Rob Brown and Sean Booth formed an electronic music duo called Autechre. They signed to a then unknown electronic music record label called Warp Records and became pioneers not only of IDM (“Intelligent Dance Music” an outdated term for “living room techno”) but also helped usher dark ambient techno sounds into the scene and took the idea of industrial electronic music to the next level. This group is just one of many including names like Iszoloscope, W.A.S.T.E., Converter, Atrax Morgue, that have helped shape the landscape of thedark electronic music that’s alive and well today. You’ll hear music by these groups and many of their contemporaries from record labels like Cold Meat Industry, Ant-Zen, Tympanik Aduio and more when Technoir Events hosts an evening of IDM, industrial, and rhythmic noise music at Broadway Joe’s on Saturday, January 31 with DJs Nekrotique, Leah, Vomit, and Arcturus. Expect live projections and art instillations as well as specialty drinks with names like Toxic Waste, Swamp Water, and Dumpster Juice. Oh yeah, and it’s free.
