5 Bands To Check Out at Cold Blood MMXV

[PUNK] On Saturday, January 17, 17 of Buffalo’s finest punk bands will come together for Cold Blood MMXV at the Adam Mickiewicz Polish Library. All 17 acts are listed below, but If you find yourself overwhelmed by this blizzard of punk and hardcore music, just consult this handly list of must-see acts.

It’s hard to say that “Black Stars” is Alpha Hopper at their strangest—all nine tracks on the experimental punk band’s album Let Heaven And Nature Sing will rub you weirdly—but let’s just say “Black Stars” is that special, catchy kind of weird.

Industrial punk band Gas Chamber contributed substantially to the resounding success of experimenal rock band Cages’ show at Hallwalls last week, but what you saw from the members of Gas Chamber at that show did not exactly represent what that band is capable of. On their latest album, Hemorrhaging Light, the band whips through 11 breakneck tracks in 30 minutes. Most tracks are under a two minutes long, but the stand out track on the record is the 10 minute long progressive punk jam, “Pigeon.”

“We are the CHUD!” begins “Orange Barrels” by Bloomington, Indiana band CHUD. “Orange Barrels” is a rockin’ retro fashioned lo-fi garage tune, but check out the rumbling trainwreck that is “Biggest Chode,” just becasue… wow, what a song title.

Punk band Wild Side hail from the wild side of Niagara Falls… the Canadian side. The band takes cues from classic West Coast punk bands like Social Distortion on tracks like their sludgy chugger ”It’s In The Attitude.”

Finally, Baltimore riot girls Wet Brain just want to know “who the fuck are you?” They’re probably friendlier in person, though
