[ART] It’s a beautiful and strangely novel thing, to have a gallery of Hallwalls’ stature devote six successive and successful shows to local artists on the cusp of innovation, treating the artists to the same spotlight we like to shine on leaders in any field who have a cup of coffee in our corner of the world. This isn’t a “Defend Buffalo” sentiment, but Hallwalls has given us a great reason to take inventory of our collective creative currency with this series as it reaches its penultimate exhibition. This version brings us some delicious work with installation works by Caitlin Cass and David Mitchell, paintings by Jay Carrier, drawings by Nicholas Ruth, Joan Linder, and Todd Lesmeister, book sculptures by Scott McCarney, and photographic diptychs by Hallwalls’ founder Charles Clough.
