EP: City Lies by The Tins

Recommended if you like: Mac DeMarco, The Beatles, Tame Impala

Buffalo-based indie rock band The Tins will release their next EP, City Lies, this Friday, October 20 with a show at Lockhouse Distillery with special guest, First Ward as support. City Lies is a four track EP that moves from hazy Mac DeMarco-esque downtempo indie rock to Beatles-influenced indie-pop. The opening track, and first single from the album is titled “Lifeline,” and features comforting acoustic guitars and perfectly harmonized vocals as it slow meanders through idyllic lyrics and swirling, psychedelic synth interludes.

Another highlight includes the more intimate title track, “City Lies” which moves from stripped back instrumentation into a noisier climax amid reverberated vocal flares.  Throughout the record, the band’s vocal work and harmonies stand out as an accomplishment in inventiveness and dedication to craft.

The well-known three-piece band recorded the record at their personal studio space, Mammoth Recording Studio on Main Street in Buffalo, a space that keyboard player Mike Santillo co-owns and works as an engineer.

The Tins EP Release Party beings at 8pm this Friday at Lockhouse.
