Feature Friday by Rise Collaborative
Editor’s note: Each week Buffalo lifestyle brand Rise Collaborative scour Instagram for their favorite locally sourced images. Each Friday we at The Public will feature a few of their favorites, along with a little bit of info from the photographers themselves. To submit your Instagram photo use the hashtag #FFRisePublic
The winds were whipping, the air was biting, and the rains were drizzling, but we still had an AWESOME time for our first ever #BUFstameet at Forest Lawn! As we all gathered among the trees at the Chapin/Delavan greenspace, anonymous Instagram accounts suddenly sprang forward with personality. You could now have an actual face-to-face conversation with the person you follow. We think “Oh you’re @bflobill!” was the most popular phrase that morning. As faces were linked with names and we headed into Forest Lawn, it was great to imagine how certain shots would turn out. Knowing the photographic styles of certain people, you could almost predict how it would look; @tannergelatt with the muted tones, @rawdeadfish a little more abstract.
There were also several relative new-comers to Buffalo at #BUFstameet. @yeahbuffalo, a husband and wife team from Pittsburgh who are doing a hell of a job getting to know and promote individuals in the community, along with @tipicocoffee (run by Jesse Crouse) who will be opening a new coffee shop on the West Side this fall. Keep an eye on those folks for big things! Accompanied by the sights, sounds, and even a family of whitetail deer, we made a cold day turn into a warm gathering. And as we trek into the winter months, we’re looking to do it again with #BUFstameet 2.0. Keep an eye on @risecollaborative for details. We hope to see you there!
