574 Michigan Avenue was one of few pre-Civil War buildings to remain standing in downtown Buffalo when this photograph was taken in about 1980. Architectural historian John Conlin estimated that the Federal Style house was built well before 1840. A 2011 arson doomed the house, which was razed in 2012 after efforts to rebuild went nowhere.
