Single: “settle_down” by American Low

Recommended if you like: City and Colour, Kevin Devine, Tallest Man on Earth

New music from pop rock band American Low comes with the description “first song in so long.” The song, titled “settle_down” is an acoustic pop song about growing up, growing older, and staying grounded. Singer/songwriter Michael Brady delivers layered reverberated vocals that mesh nicely with the highly textured, metallic acoustic guitar melodies. The song builds nicely as layers upon layers of guitar and vocals are added.

Album: Vitamin D by Vin De Rosa

Recommended if you like: Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, John Mayer

The latest album from Vin Derosa is titled Vitamin D and was released in May. The EP features four tracks of soulful pop music delivered with a diverse array of instrumentation and vocalization. Derosa sings on much of the record—his voice comes off as a cross between John Mayer and Bruno Mars—with instrumentation and song structure that recalls Stevie Wonder or Michael Jackson. The pop stylings are balanced out by the rap-style vocals, which give the music a needed edge.
