Artists Seen: Carima El-Behairy
Carima El-Behairy is a designer, arts administrator, and entrepreneur who was born in Buffalo and continues to make the city her home base. She received an Associate of Arts degree in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University in 1989 and a BS in Design and Visual Communications from Buffalo State College in 1990. El-Behairy was a cofounder of both P22 Type Foundry and Western New York Book Arts Center. In her work with P22 she served as CFO, represented the company at conferences around the world, and contributed to many artistic projects, including font design. She is also a founder of Oracle Charter School and the Charter School Coalition and has served on the boards of several not-for-profits, including Planned Parenthood of Western New York and Irish Classical Theatre Company.
