Cover Art: Buffalo - a work in progress
This week’s cover features one of many detailed watercolors of Buffalo’s architecture by Carol Case Siracuse. At first glance you cannot resist noticing its intricacy, which one could say is symptomatic of her being a retired urban architect. But it’s more than that. Paintings like Homage to Louis Sullivan speak to our shared fascination with what was and what will be made of structures across the Queen City. That is what Buffalo - a work in progress will be exploring at Studio Hart.
Alongside Siracuse, the show also brings together visual artist Sara M. Zak (featured on our past cover) and urbanist/photographer Chris Hawley. Their mutual interest and varying perspectives of our city will be on display at an opening reception held on Friday, January 9 at 6pm at 65 Allen Street.
