The Soft Love EP Release Show

[INDIE] Buffalo indie-rock band The Soft Love will celebrate the release of their next record on Saturday, June 4 at Mr. Goodbar. The EP is titled All of It, features the hard-rock track “Now, “ which the band released last year and the title track, “All of It,” which combines soaring guitars and gritty vocals. The record was recorded by Jay Zubricky at GCR and mixed/mastered by Paul Besch at Quiet Country Audio.

Samantha Fish

[BLUES] Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith were among the forebears who transformed the blues from a male-dominated genre of working songs and light vocals to a gender-blended experience marked by earthy vocals and fervent conviction. From Janis Joplin to Rory Block, women have continued to prove that they possess the emotional scars essential to conveying the raw passion that buttresses the genre.

Pride Week

[PRIDE] The rainbow flag has been hoisted and the Pride Week revolution has begun—or as Buffalo Pride says through this year’s theme: R/Evolution.

Houndmouth

[ROCK] Boasting a fiery live show and Greek-chorus-style vocals, Houndmouth’s brand of folk-infused indie rock is hearty, bright and resilient. The Indiana-based outfit’s 2013 major label debut was met with rave reviews, leading to performances on shows like Letterman and at major festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Their 2015 sophomore release, Little Neon Limelight maintains the well-crafted tunes and contemplative lyricism, showing promise for the quintet’s future.

Kiss Jingoism Hello

98.5 has “Kiss the Summer Hello”

103.3 has “EdgeFest”

107.7 has “Kerfuffle”

106.5 has “Taste of Country”

Not to be outdone, “Newsradio” 930 WBEN has a summer festival of its own: “The Rally for America”.

While other radio stations book a string of national acts to come and sing a hit or two for local fans, WBEN is getting deep into the right-wing grift and will be monetizing patriotism itself

Catfish & the Bottlemen

[ROCK] Hot on the heels of winning their first Brit Award for Breakthrough Act earlier this year, Catfish & The Bottlemen aren’t showing any signs of slowing down, jetting off on an international tour in support of The Ride– their latest set of arena shaking anthems. Hailing from North Whales, the quintet boasts a simplistic, yet skillful brand of guitar-heavy rock in the same vein as the Artic Monkeys.

Ragbirds

[FOLK] Ann Arbor’s Ragbirds are bringing their spirit to Buffalo Iron Works for a gig on Wednesday night, June 1 with special guests Folkfaces.

Umphrey’s McGee

[JAM] Umphrey’s McGee have carried the jam band torch that bands like Phish and the Grateful Dead lit since the late 1990s. Hailing from Chicago by way of South Bend, Indiana, the band tends to make at least one stop in Buffalo each year. The six-piece band comes to the Rapids Theatre on Friday, June 3 in support of their latest record, 2015’s The London Session, recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London.
