War on Women
[HARDCORE] Like your hardcore with a feminist edge? Then it doesn’t get any better than this: three righteous gals and two dudes from Baltimore spewing vitriol with just the slightest hint of melodic sweetness coming through the shred and pummel. With a fierce self-titled debut on the Bridge Nine label released in late winter of last year, War on Women tackle abortion, rape, and rampant sexism with rage to spare.
Sinkane
[POP] The musical project of Ahmed Gallab throws back while moving forward. Call it afro-futurism. Blending elements of 1970s funk and disco with jazzy ideals, prog structures, and flourishes of electronica, Gallab melds past and present for a rhythmically contagious tomorrow that’s simultaneously worldly, melodic, and hypnotic. As the son of two Sudanese college professors, Gallab arrived in the States at the age of five.
