Josh Ritter

[POP] In a world where synthetically crafted vocals and novelty songs with lazy, wordless choruses rule the airwaves, Josh Ritter is entirely too talented to be a pop star. But he continues making the best of his cult status with last year’s Sermon on the Rocks (Pytheas/Thirty Tigers). Striking a balance between his ingenious gift for wordplay and a fierce rhythmic sense, the soundtrack to Ritter’s Sermon is as catchy as it is smart.

Wines in the Wild

A long-running favorite among wine lovers and zoo patrons, this event has existed in some form since the 1990s. “While the financial results are certainly rewarding, welcoming more than 2,500 guests to the Zoo on a summer evening to stroll the grounds and to have an overall great time offers even greater reward,” said Todd Geise, Director of Marketing at the Zoo.

Interview: Melissa Etheridge

[ROCK] Talking with singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge, you get a clear sense that maintaining a certain level of freedom is her paramount concern across the board of life. It’s still the guiding force in her career, nearly 30 years on from her self-titled debut, and it’s definitely at the heart of her feelings about the impending presidential election.
