Buffalo Spell and the Adam Bronstein Freehand Band
[JAZZ] Two talented local bands will take over both stages at Nietzsche’s on Friday, August 19. Taking the back stage is Toney Rhodes’ Buffalo Spell, an eccentric jazz-funk band who will play a mix of originals and covers. On the front stage, Adam Bronstein’s Freehand Band will play a selection of original compositions by band leaders Bronstein, Jon Lehning, and Alec Dube.
Torn Space presents: Response
[PERFORMANCE] Torn Space Theater just keeps reaching and growing. Committed to bringing challenging and innovative work to area audiences, the company—founded by Dan Shanahan and Melissa Meola—has attracted international attention for its theatrical spectacles and to the places it uses to mount them. This includes Silo City (which has drawn international attention and artists on its own merit) and the Adam Mickiewicz Dramatic Circle, Torn Space’s home base.

Walter Trout
[BLUES] Blues guitarist Walter Trout, 65, has spent time in incarnations of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and Canned Heat while also working with legendary blues icons like Joe Tex and John Lee Hooker along the way. He’s back on the road after a woeful diagnosis of advanced liver disease ala Hep C just two years ago, making him a survivor of an entirely different kind.
