The 2015 Undy 5000 in support of the Colon Cancer Alliance is being held in Buffalo’s Delaware Park this Saturday, on April 25th. It remains - astonishingly enough — the only Undy 5000 being held in New York State, and people are coming from throughout the region to participate in a fun event designed to raise money for — and awareness of — a particularly deadly but especially preventable cancer that has an unfortunate stigma.

[LECTURE] In 1987 Claude Marks was featured on an episode of America’s Most Wanted. His story began when Puerto Rican revolutionary Oscar López Rivera was imprisoned in Leavenworth Penitentiary in the early 1980s for his involvement in the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional, better known as FALN. In 1983, Marks and an associate attempted to spring Rivera from Leavenworth, a task easier said than done. The plot to blow up the prison and land a helicopter amidst the chaos was a failure and Marks and his partner lived clandestinely for 13 years, avoiding arrest.
[FOLK] This Friday night four of Buffalo’s most spirited outfits will take the stage at Mohawk Place, transforming the venue into a hub of all out foot stomping, hip-swinging, string-brass-drum jubilation.
[ELECTRONIC/DANCE] Philadelphia based trap producers, Victor Niglio and Dotcom will be hitting up the Waiting Room this Thursday, April 23 as part of their Philly Strong tour, courtesy of MnM presents. Equally renown for creating heavy, innovative trap anthems, both artists got their start in the game by releasing remixes that would become festival staples. Since then they’ve created their own buzz in the trap community, pushing the boundaries of the genre and garnering support from trend setters such as Skrillex, Diplo, and Tiesto.
[SPORT] This year the local Golden Gloves tournament has saved their best for last. 15 bouts are slated for Saturday, April 25 at the Forvm, seven of which will send the winner to the national tournament next month in Las Vegas. The tourney finals will feature the fine stylings of Buffalo standouts Jeffrey Nygayot and Joe Reed along with Rochester’s Wilmont Wood and the promising light heavyweight Lawrence King.
