Ranchos Riviera with Peter Croce & Blair French

[DISCO] This is the definition of pure hedonism: Sunshine, tacos, cerveza, and house music. It doesn’t get much better than that, and you can have that, you really can, this Saturday, August 18 at Taqueria Ranchos la Delicias on Niagara Street where a couple of Detroit’s finest will set up for a day time disco-house party. DJs Peter Croce and Blair French, both of whom have released records on Croce’s Rocksteady Disco imprint, will set up shop on the large outdoor concrete patio on Niagara Street.

Jay Z and Beyonce

[HIP HOP] The video for “Apeshit,” the latest single from Everything is Love, the new album from Beyoncé and Jay-Z—which was released under their new alias, THE CARTERS—features a scene in which a group of black men in hoodies and leather jackets kneel as the camera zooms in. As this happens on screen at the mid point of the video, Jay-Z raps in his first verse: “I said no to the Super Bowl.

Chris Collins: Indicted

If you had told me Wednesday morning that Representative Chris Collins would be arrested, indicted, and arraigned for federal crimes, I’d have thought you were crazy.

If you told me that he’d be arrested, indicted, and arraigned for federal crimes and not resign, and instead continue to mount a re-election campaign, I’d have thought I was crazy.

Yet, here we are.

Spotlight: Shredd & Ragan

George the rhino from The Buffalo Zoo attempting to pick the Buffalo Bills first round quarterback draft pick. A person getting hit by a car attempting the Drake “In My Feelings” challenge. A death metal version of a thunder snow weather forecast. An STD bracket challenge during March Madness. All stunts, news, and features brought to the Buffalo public through local radio.

Lewiston Art Festival

[STREET FESTIVAL] Lewiston is as fine a day-trip destination as New York State has to offer: It’s lovely, it overlooks the lovely strait of Niagara, it boasts wonderful restaurants and a captivating history. And this weekend it hosts the Lewiston Art Festival, featuring work by more than 175 artists from far and wide, including a “College Alley” dedicated to exhibiting work by student artists. There will be live artists, chalk artists, best-in-show awards (at 4:40pm Saturday), facepainting—all the accoutrement.

DFB Does Tenacious D

[TRIBUTE] The tenacious Donny Frauenhofer Band will take on the music of Tenacious D for a show at Nietzsche’s in Allentown on Saturday, August 11. Last month the band covered Frank Zappa, in what seems to be turning into a series of tributes to music’s most eclectic musicians. DFB will be joined by the Buffalo Brass Machine and Jumpship.

All Time Low and Dashboard Confessional

[EMO] A one-two punch of pop-punk and emo is coming in the form of a double headlining show from All Time Low and Dashboard Confessional. Both bands formed during the height of the pop-punk/emo movement, building their solid fanbases through genuinely emotional rock music. Where All Time Low drew influences from late 1990s bands like Blink 182 and The Get Up Kids, Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba has cited 1980s bands as various as The Cure, the Descendents, and R.E.M. Carrabba.
