Sophisticated Funk
[FUNK] What makes Sophisticated Funk so sophisticated is not some aristocratic attitude, but instead the sophistication that goes into their selections. The promoters are touting this as “not your average funk night.” “Don’t come expecting James Brown or any tired 70’s funk records,” they say. Meaning this will be a night of underground disco, funk, and electro music that you’ve likely not come across before.
Frank Rosaly with Steve Baczkowski
[JAZZ] Frank Rosaly has probably jammed with one of your favorite musicians. The drummer from Chicago has collaborated with the likes of Thurston Moore, Fennesz, Joan of Arc, White/Light, and many more as part of his improvisational music career. When he comes to Dreamland on Thursday, August 27 he’ll jam along with a master of improvisation from Buffalo, saxophonist and turntablist Steve Baczkowski.
Post Season
[PUNK] The Altoona, Pennsylvania five-piece, the Post Season, displays some impressive chops, cranking out infectious punk-pop tunes that land with a worthwhile punch.
