Spotlight: Local Tattoo Artist is Reality TV Show Star

On Tuesday, February 9, Lockport-based tattoo artist Nick D’Angelo will make his third appearance on the Spike TV program Ink Master, a competitive tattooing reality TV show. D’Angelo’s first appearance happened in 2012, on season two of the show. Unfortunately for him, he was kicked off early on, but he’s nonetheless become one of the most beloved contestants on the show.

Snow Stroll

[PARADE] The crew over at Slow Roll will lead a special “Snow Stroll” parade on Saturday, February 6. They’re inviting pedestrians and pedalers (who can pedal very slowly) alike to parade around downtown destinations including the Historic Cobblestone District, Canalside, the Harborcenter, and First Niagara Center. The parade, presented in collaboration with Arts Services Initiative, begins and ends at Buffalo Iron Works. No registration required.

Johnny Cash Birthday Bash

[TRIBUTE] Four talented Buffalo-based bands (and one DJ) will pay tribute to the Man in Black, Johnny Cash, this Friday, February 5 for the fifth annual Johnny Cash Birthday Bash. The CPX, Eric Van Houten MusicUncle Ben’s Remedy, and Ten Cent Howl will play all Cash all night long (and they’re guaranteeing no repeats) while DJ Drop D spins Johnny Cash remixes in between sets.

Floodwood

[JAM] Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar resident jam band, Floodwood, returns to their long time haunt this Friday, February 5. The band, featuring moe drummer Vin Amico delivers a jam-saturated take on Americana and bluegrass.

Gos Gozah: Disco Fever Edition

[PARTY] Gos Gozah, the monthly queer-friendly dance party returns to Milkie’s on Elmwood this Friday, February 5 for a Disco Fever Edition. Buffalo’s DJ Lyida and DJ Loryn from San Francisco will take over the dance floor for the night while Vidalia May puts on a special musical drag performance. The bartender will be pouring two for $5 well drink specials. Dress like a disco ball.

Night Slaves

[ROCK] Named after a 1970 sci-fi-horror flick with Leslie Nielsen and Lee Grant where aliens enslave zombies, Night Slaves is a dark, electro-industrial collaboration between David Kane and John Toohill, who’ve just released a six-song cassette. Elsewhere on the bill, Kevin O’Brien Cain opens with an early set of noise and poetry as Malaria Control, with sets from Cages., VWLS, and Flatsitter as well. Friday at Mohawk Place.
