Cute is What We Aim For

[EMO] Fresh off of their latest reunion, Buffalo emo band Cute is What We Aim For are celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their debut album The Same Old Blood Rush with a New Touch—the Matt Squire produced record released by Fueled by Ramen Records in 2006. With most of the original line up in order, Cute has recently travelled to Australia, where they did a stint of shows before returning to the states for an extensive cross country tour that ends in their hometown of Buffalo.

The Devon Allman Band

[ROCK] After trying out some other musical styles in his youth to distance himself from being the son of Gregg Allman (who he didn’t meet until his teen years), guitarist Devon Allman finally gave in to the pull of blues-inflected, southern rock and roll. Having bounced between fronting his band Honeytribe and intermittently playing in the “supergroup” Royal Southern Brotherhood with Cyril Neville, Mike Zito, Yonrico Scott and Charlie Wooton, Allman has been focusing on a solo career as he moves into his 40s.

The Security Project

[TRIBUTE] While there are a number of bands touring the material spawned from Peter Gabriel’s tenure with Genesis, there seem to be far fewer focused on his solo work. The Security Project takes that distinction one step further and sticks to Gabriel’s early solo work—presumably the first three ‘untitled’ albums. That may be changing however, since the band is welcoming singer-songwriter Happy Rhodes into its roster.

Infringement Festival Fundraiser

[FUNDRAISER] Perhaps you’ve finally let go of summer and begun to steel yourself for the long winter months. That’s smart. But the organizing cooperative that puts on the Buffalo Infringement Festival at the end of each July can never let go of summer; they can think of little else, if they are to continue the 13-year tradition of the 11-day cultural free-for-all. And they can’t do it alone: They need participating artists, of course, but they also need money to cover the festival’s numerous costs.
