The Movement Dance Party

[FUNDRAISER] ’Tis the season: The Movement Dance Party returns this Saturday, December 17, offering an opportunity to do good unto the community and get down in the company of likeminded party people. Hosted by the Crossroads Collective, the venue this year is the historic Varsity Theatre on Bailey, and the dance track is provided by the likes of DJ Sike, Rook Hawkins, We Stole the Show, and plenty more.

The Life Ecstatic Pt. 2

The party, hosted by Be_of Rodagues and Jordan Hood Koolie will feature performances by Dr. OoO, Billie Essco, Hop Hop, and a collaboration between Short Moscato, Wza, and Illusive.

Snow Roll

[BIKE] Thought the Slow Roll was over for the year? Well think again. The local leisurely bike riding club is throwing a special Snow Roll this Saturday, December 17 for those willing to brave some snowy streets and colder temps. But your bravery will also help cloth someone who needs it, because this event is also a winter clothing drive. Organizers have noted that socks and underwear are some in demand items, for those in need of ideas.

Peach Mag Reading

[LIT] It’s lit, fam. Or to be proper, “It’s literary, family.”  Peach Mag, a new, Buffalo-based online literary magazine, is holding another reading this Friday, December 16 at Sugar City. This one, however, will be a benefit for the local refugee services organization Journey’s End. The reading is open to the public with a suggested minimum donation of $5.

Two Guys Good Buys Holiday Party

[HOLIDAY] Another chance to get your holiday shopping done all at one pop-up shop, the Buffalo-based roaming pop-up-shop-in-a-van known as Two Guys Good Buys have moved into a storefront for the holidays, right next to their friends at Ashker’s Juice Bar. They’re throwing a holiday party to release their “There’s No Place Like Home” collaboration with print shop Positive Approach on Friday, December 16.

Ugly Sweater Toy Drive

[HOLIDAY] Put that ugly Christmas sweater to good use. The Lenox Grill is hosting an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party for a good cause, organized by a team of local business owners. The party takes place on Thursday, December 15 and offers not only an opportunity to donate some new, unwrapped (key words) toys for their Toys For Tots drive but also a great opportunity to fill out that holiday spirit meter with some fine drinks, good company, the entertainment of all of those ugly sweaters, and the music of Steve Balesteri.

Workingmans Dead

[TRIBUTE] Named after the harmony-rich, Americana-flavored album that many have come to feel is the Grateful Dead’s crowning achievement insofar as studio recordings are concerned, Buffalo’s own Workingman’s Dead will finish out the year with this gig at the Tralf on Friday, December 16. Come on out with bells on and do your best Dead sway one last time in 2016, wit

Headstones

[PUNK] The aging punks of Headstones, from up north of the border, still deliver the high-energy set that made them famous, going back almost 30 years (with an eight-year hiatus in the mix).

Interview: July Talk

[ROCK] July Talk is one of those bands you don’t come across every day. They’re that unique, illuminated gem set apart from the pile of monotonous musical artists you’ve seen repeatedly trying to emulate groups from the past while dubbing themselves originals. This five-piece band, which formed in Toronto in 2012, takes the art of making music and the presentation of that music to a whole new level—all while maintaining an authentic vision that is unlike any other band currently on the scene.

Palisades

[PUNK] Electrifying punk band Palisades will perform new music from their highly anticipated self-titled album Tuesday, December 20 at the Waiting Room. Though their album drops January 20, the group has been teasing with new music all month long.
