[PUNK] The rudimentary punk at the core of what Mallwalkers get up to sounds like it could’ve easily emerged from the Bowery some 40 years ago: think a scrappy Talking Heads with less art-school pretense, blending its early new-wave and later funk motifs while maintaining plenty of lo-fi appeal. The band, which also boasts a five-piece horn section, will appear at the newly revamped Sugar City on Monday, March 16 with the janglier, violin-and-cello-spiked sounds of Defiance, Ohio.
