Public Picnic Fundraiser featuring Landlady

[FUN] Our paper is called The Public, after all, so we’re continually looking for new ways to engage our readers—and people who aren’t yet our readers—and to inspire a free exchange of ideas. That’s the main idea behind The Public Picnic: to encourage the public (at large) to gather and chat over tasty eats. And since everyone thinks Silo City is cool and wishes they could spend more time there (not to mention, its great symbolism about what’s worth preserving in our amazingly funky city), that’s where The Public Picnic will be held on a select number of Wednesday evenings throughout the summer (yes, have faith, it will get here eventually).

The next installment in a series of fundraisers for the picnics happens Wednesday night at Mohawk Place, and it features Brooklyn’s Landlady in the headlining slot. Frontman Adam Schatz’s unique voice provides an equally unusual take on the world around him set to a psych-pop soundtrack that’s full of rhythmic surprises (dig the cool “reproductive-system-art” on the cover of their disc Upright Behavior). Locals Aircraft make for a good match with their trippy brand of retro-inspired fun, while Bryan Johnson and Family will dish up some charming surf-fare.
