Iration
[REGGAE] Back in November, Micah Pueschel, the Hawaii-raised front-man of Iration talked about what he hopes to achieve with his 2015 Tales From The Sea Tour. For this trip, the band’s message is personified by an octopus wrapped around a ship’s wheel and anchor juxtaposed onto a map to commemorate their third album Automatic, which won the number one spot on iTunes and the Billboard Reggae Albums charts. The graphic, designed by Alex Z, is inspired by their ocean-centric lifestyle and determination to venture into uncharted territory musically—as they garner greater attention for the reggae genre. They do this by incorporating pop and rock stylistic influences, luring audiences outside of the typical reggae afficinado cadre. Pueschel expressed happiness at the inclusion of Stick Figure, a roots-reggae-dub group on his tour, who raised their status within the reggae scene recently with their collaboration with Collie Buddz on the track, “Smokin’ Love.” Speaking of prestige, Micah hopes to someday work with Rick Rubin, the iconic bearded founder of Def-Jam Records and “the guy everybody wants to work with based on his catalog,” as well as with James Ford, the England-based producer of the Arctic Monkeys. At the time we spoke, Pueschel had five songs ready to cut to an album however no release date has yet been announced. There’s a chance that fans will get a sneak preview of these new tracks when Iration comes to the Town Ballroom on Wednesday, April 22.
