[METAL] Nearly 20 years on, New Orleans’ Goatwhore seems more relevant than ever. True, this is some serious metal, the kind where lyrics are barked (rather than sung) by a dude who sounds like his uvula was tied to a truck and dragged down Main Street at the end of a white-out winter. But the musicianly chops are undeniable and, interestingly, the band has taken its longstanding occult focus and turned it toward an uncertain world future on its last two discs. The message is clear: Armageddon is coming. Goatwhore plays the Waiting Room on Friday, December 18 behind headliners The Black Dahlia Murder.
