A Chopin Weekend at the BPO

[CLASSICAL] In residence this week with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is the esteemed Polish pianist Konrad Skolarski, an assistant professor at Warsaw’s Chopin University. Naturally, the 37-year-old’s stay in Buffalo will highlight the works of Poland’s most famous composer. First up is a free solo recital on Wednesday, November 1 at 8pm in the Mary Seaton Room, where the program ranges from Chopin to Liszt and Rachmaninoff—a pianist’s showcase. On Saturday and Sunday, November 4 (8pm) and 5 (2:30pm), the program with full orchestra is titled “Chopin’s Piano”: The centerpiece is Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2, bookended with works by Strauss and Brahms. Visit bpo.org for details and tickets.

11/1 free, 11/4 and 11/5 $29-$60
