Independence Day Celebrations (July 2-4)
[CELEBRATION] As a famous Kwiki Mart employee once stated, the best way to celebrate the independence of your nation is to blow up a small part of it. Buffalo is never short on fireworks displays to celebrate Independence Day, and you can also expect a few bumping beach parties again this year too. Here we’ve compiled a list of some of the best Independence Day celebrations happening this weekend.
JULY 3 JJ & Uncle Sam’s 5th Annual Birthday Bash
7pm Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar, 253 Allen St.
Celebrate the birthday of Uncle Sam (and Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar’s JJ) this Sunday at Duke’s with a bunch of your favorite local DJs including Milk& Cochise, The Incredible Scott Down, and DJ Charles Masters. You bet there’ll be a complimentary buffet too, because that’s how they roll at Duke’s.
JULY 4 Canalside Independence Day Celebration
1pm Canalside, 44 Prime St.
Canalside will host an entire day of celebrations including live music, food, children’s activities, and fireworks from 1pm to 11pm on Saturday. Expect music by the George Scott Big Band, Tiger Chung Lee, Outer Circle Orchestra, and a dance performance by Lehrer Dance. Fireworks, presented by Russell J. Salvatore, begin at 10pm.
Fireworks at UB North Campus
7pm Baird Point
Each year since 1991, UB has hosted one of the biggest Fourth of July fireworks displays in Buffalo at Baird Point. This year, they’re once again expecting 40,000 to 50,000 attendees, so get there early if you want to grab a prime spot. The event begins at 7pm, entertainment by The Erie County Wind Ensemble will begins at 8:45pm, followed by fireworks at 10pm.
Clarence Hollowfest

Clarence Town Park, 10405 Main St.
For the fourth year, the Clarence Hollow Association will hold Hollowfest at Clarence Town Park. The festival, which runs from Saturday, July 2 through Monday, July 4 will include fair rides, food, midway games, a beer tent, and fireworks at dusk on July 4.
4th of July Carnival on Old Falls Street
Old Falls Street will host a family-friendly 4th of July Carnival on Saturday, July 2 through Monday, July 4. Expect fun activities like rides, games, clowns, stilt walkers, hula-hoopers, balloon artists, as well as plenty of local food, drink and merchandise vendors, culminating in a fireworks display over the Falls. $20 wristband is good for all-day fun.
