[SCREENING] Continuing their series Beyond Boundries: Dare to be Diverse, the Burchfield Penney will present a three day “Women, Social Justice, and Documentary” event starting Thursday, March 9 with the screening of The New Black by director Yoruba Richen. The documentary film focuses on African Americans and gay rights—a timely followup for those who may have just seen the Oscar award-winning film Moonlight. On Friday, March 10, there’ll be a filmmakers panel featuring Yoruba Richen as well as Dorothea Braemer and Paulette Moore. Film shorts by Moore and Braemer including “The Spirit of Standing Rock” and “Searching for Paradise,” a 30-minute documentary about unique art initiatives in rural Germany, will be screened on Saturday, March 11, along with a selection of other shorts.
