Tchaikovsky’s Violin

[CLASSICAL] The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will celebrate the opening night of their season with a performance by violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. As star of opening night, the German violinist will perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. The piece, written in 1878, is one of the composers best known concertos. Mutter, a four time Grammy Award winner who began her career as a child prodigy and who is now considered one of the best violinists in the world, has not visited Buffalo since 1987. The performance will also include performances of Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 1 and Weiner’s Suite on Hungarian Folk Themes and more. Classical music enthusiasts should line up for this special night with the BPO and conductor JoAnn Falletta, this Saturday, September 16 at Kleinhans Music Hall. The Opening Night Gala takes place the same evening, and features pre-concert cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner by Oliver’s, premium concert seating, and a post-concert dessert reception. For more info, visit BPO.org.
