[PUNK] Chicago’s Voice of Addiction straddles the old-world punk vibe of bands like Fugazi and Circle Jerks and noise-rock hybrid artists like Dinosaur Jr. The results are plenty edgy with progressive, math-y touches. Add in their socially conscious songwriting approach (they’re definitely not emo whiners) and you’ve got something fairly unusual. Sunday’s lineup at Mohawk Place also includes local punk from On the Cinder, plus ska-and-reggae-tinted tunes from Reggie Childs, with Orenthal and Matt Wixson’s Flying Circus.
