Randy Bachman with 54-40

[ROCK] Taking advantage of Western New York’s proximity to the longest undefended border in the world, Artpark features another Canadian Hall of Fame show this week in its Tuesdays at the Park series. As the founding member of two of the most popular groups ever to come out of the Great White North, the Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive, guitarist Randy Bachman can lay claim to enough hits to make a dozen careers, from ”No Time,” “Undun,” and “American Woman” to “Let it Ride,” “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” and of course “Takin’ Care of Business.” As host of the popular CBC Radio 1 show Vinyl Tap since 2005, Bachman has also developed a talent for storytelling that will hopefully inform his performance. Opening is the somewhat younger but no less venerated group 54-40, who came of age at the height of the “alternative” years. They’re best known for the Blowfish-covered “I Go Blind,” but their repertoire includes plenty of tunes you’ll recognize from the glory days of Toronto’s CFNY-FM, including “One Gun,” “Baby Have Some Faith,” and “Ocean Pearl.”
