Chocolate Puma

[ELECTRONIC/DANCE] If you’ve got any love for the house sounds of the early 1990s then Chocolate Puma’s got some love for you. The Holland-born duo burst on the scene in 1992 with an inescapable house hit called “Give It Up” (released under the moniker of The Good Men) that lit a fire under club floors all over the world, featuring a marching band beat on steroids and a dismissive chant, “Give it up, Girl!” that kept the gay boys bouncing for two years solid. Since then Gaston Steenkist and René ter Horst have earned their keep as a sought after DJ/Production duo with over 200 original releases and a staggering list of remix credits. Presented by Factory Nightlife, the men of Puma will spin at Venu on Chippewa this Saturday, February 18, celebrating the release of their latest single, a collaboration with Pep & Rash entitled “The Stars Are Mine,” which drops just the day before. The 1990’s feel still exists at the core of what Chocolate Puma does, but the new track is undeniably modern with a reverb-drenched vocal that recalls Alan Parsons. Groovy.
