[EMO] This is pretty self-explanatory for most of you reading this, but let’s elaborate anyway. The rise of Taking Back Sunday began in 1999 with guitarist Eddie Reyes from Long Island, along with a few punk screamo kids in and out of other bands.
[INDIE] Brick + Mortar are an indie rock/drum and bass/electronic duo from New Jersey, consisting of two guys on bass and drums with some vocals and electronic samples.
[REGGAE] Fun fact: this guy wrote the theme song for Arthur, the cartoon with all the aardvarks. That’s hardly the most recognizable aspect of Ziggy Marley, though. He’s also Bob Marley’s eldest son and leader of the band Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers.
Buffalo’s first Cobblestone Live! Music Festival is coming up quick, and will feature 35 bands and artists from all over the place. Amongst the lineup is Midnight Snack, an indie pop band that mixes eclectic sounds with a ton of cool instruments.
[INDIE] Out of Los Angeles, Magic Giant are something to see. Their single “Set On Fire” gained them quite a lot of recognition, namely by Billboard when the single charted in the top 30 on the Alternative chart.
[INDIE] The Shins came out of Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1996 as a side project to James Mercer’s then-band, Flake Music. And they’re still really with it.

[POST HARDCORE] To some, Thursday is the quintessential post-hardcore screamo band.
