Chowhound of the Week: Because It Tastes Good

 Instagram:  @becauseittastesgood

It’s that time of the year again where we’re surrounded by something decedent everywhere we go. While everyone spends the holidays differently, we can all agree that our families carry on some delicious traditions. A lot of foodies have found their niche by watching and learning from their families all these years and the owner of the Because it Tastes Good instagram page, Lea, is no exception. “I have always had a passion for food, cooking and eating I have my mother to thank for that. I grew up cooking with her and fell in love with food. I decided that if I loved eating and drinking so much I may as well start sharing them,” Lea says. With over 500 posts, this hungry girl is diving in and indulging in some of the best food Buffalo has to offer.

It’s safe to say that we can all agree on one thing, carbs are amazing. For Lea, carbs are the one thing she can’t get enough of. She’s an Italian food fanatic, which makes her a fan of anything involving sauce and cheese. Lea holds a special place in her heart for Bocce Pizza Club and more recently OG Wood Fire Pizza. Much like her love for pizza, Lea still enjoys a good plate of wings; it’s hard not to when you’re from Buffalo. “How can I be from Buffalo and not love wings? Duffs and Barbill take the cake for me,” Lea says. She’s also a firm believer in balance; if you’re going to have a little savory you need to have a little sweet too. She swears that if you have a sweet tooth a hot fudge sundae from Antoinette’s in Depew will hit the spot. “You won’t be disappointed,” she says.

Lea, among other things, is a meat and potatoes kind of gal. One of her favorite restaurants and dishes to enjoy in Buffalo is Au Poivre tenderloin from Hutch’s. She claims this “top notch” dish is a life-changing cut of meat. When you’re not in the mood for a fine dining experience, Lea suggests you make your way over to the West Side Bazar and try the Pad Ka Pow from the Thai Counter. “A fried egg on top—you can’t go wrong,” she says. While on the topic of something international, Lea admires the fresh and consistent flavors she always receives from Kunis sushi. She enjoys any kind of meal—whether she’s sitting down to breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner she knows she can always find a good meal with in these city limits.
