This Week's Public Picks: The Eaves + Ugly Sun

Single: “Feels Better” by The Eaves

Recommended if you like: The National, Spoon, The Shins

Drummer Steve Tripi of The Eaves describes the band as a reboot of his former band, Sixties Future. Their debut single, which was released late last month, is a driving indie rock tune titled “Feel Better.” Singer Chris Couche hits a tone that reminds of a less gloomy Matt Berninger (of The National), while the rest of the band belts out jangly, head bobbing rock. Catch the band on Saturday, December 23 at the Town Ballroom as the opening act for This Day & Age.

Single: “Little Sister” by Ugly Sun

Recommended if you like: Ty Segall, Wavves, Cloud Nothings

The new single from Buffalo based band, “Little Sister,” comes with a bizarre new lyrics video. A riotous indie punk track is matched with a video featuring a fry cook having a bad trip—or some kind of personal freak-out—as the two minute and 32 second-long song zips by in a hail of group chanting and guitar-ripping-glory.
