BuffaBlog’s weekly local album reviews and event picks

Wooden Waves – Wilder Dreams (LP)
Recommended If You Like: Dinosaur Jr., Yuck
Released on local label, One Percent Press, Wilder Dreams, the long waited, debut full length from college rock five-piece, is a rollicking collection of frenzied guitars and shouty harmonies.

Jon Bap – Let It Happen (EP)
RIYL: Shuggie Otis, Cody Chesnutt
Network producer and Get Money Squad member releases latest solo collection of laid back yet off-beat psychedelic soul tunes.

DJ Pizza Pizza – “Slice 39 LOL BORED” (Song)
RIYL: DJ Snake, Lil Jon, Jager Bombs
Abstract Allentown based producer delivered a new banger over last week’s Thanksgiving Break. In what was surely produced during Buffalo’s snow-imposed exile, “Slice 39 LOL BORED” is much like the others in Yung Zza’s portfolio: keyboard based melodies that evolve into club anthems; perfect for a 2am pick me up.

Sonny Baker & Alex Berkley – Demos (Songs)
RIYL: Jim James, John K. Samson
Two early demos, the meditative Baker led “Tired of Tiring” and Berkley’s contemplative “The Joke,” from the local singer/songwriter pair will be featured on the forthcoming collaborative project.

Local Show Pick of the Week
