Map: Niagara + Grant

Some of our neighborhood favorites near Niagara and Grant Streets…

 1  Sugar City  / 1239 Niagara Street

This weekend, the arts collective—open only for events, really—is open for an event: a show of zines and other printed ephemera. This is from the ground-up stuff. See page 17.

2  Community Beer Works / 15 Lafayette Avenue

Our favorite local brewer is a fine spot to stop for a pint, a growler, and now, as of last week, some handsome, take-home, 16-ounce cans.

3  Rust Belt Books / 415 Grant Street

This week at Buffalo’s little-bookshop-that-can, La Gata (Fri Nov 11, 7:30 pm), some tango and attendant stories, and astrologgical readings over the weekend.

4  Sports City Pizza Pub / 1407 Niagara Street

The newest addition to Niagara Street’s bevy of bars and restaurants, Sports City sees no reason to reinvent the game: standard and solid Buffalo fare, lots of TVs.

 5   Gypsy Parlor / 376 Grant Street

Whatever else may have drawn you to this Grant Street grotto—the food, the cocktails—have you ever played pool here? This is the weekend to try the table.

6  Helen Street Mastodon / (?) Helen Street

A mission: On this one-block West Side street, in a narrow vacant lot, a sculptor is working with a Starlight Studios artist on fabricating a giant mastodon. Go and find it.
