The Public’s weekly local music reviews and previews.

Video:  “Burned Alive” by Ugly Sun

Recommended if you like:  Beach House, Wild Nothing, DIIV

The new video from Buffalo trio Ugly Sun comes for their track “Burned Alive.” Not quite as violent as the name would imply, the song is still a driving indie-rock banger. The video features some gnarly motorbike riding, fireworks, beer chugging, and more general suburban mayhem.

 Album:  3 by Jawbone

Recommended if you like:  Suuns, Beak>, Deerhunter

A new EP titled 3 by the band Jawbone mysteriously and unceremoniously emerged through local indie rock imprint Steak & Cake records this week. The band features Adam Steinbrenner, Elias Van Son, label head Brandon Schila, and Benjamin Randall belting out odd, discordant, and scenic indie-rock. The five song EP includes highlights like the brief yet satisfying weirdness of “Never Enough,” the more driving, structured “The Whip,” and wandering album closer “Spread.”
