 Video:  “Trouble” by Parade Chic

Recommended if you like:  Portugal. The Man, Dr. Dog, Local Natives

The latest release from Buffalo indie rock band Parade Chic is titled “Trouble” which received a video treatment from Laura Bowen—wife of frontman Colin Griffin. The song plays through dreamlike instrumentation as the video unfolds in similarly dreamlike fashion with Griffin wandering around a beach before floating out to sea. According to Griffin the song marks a new writing style from him “away from nostalgia and into the present.”

 Album:  July/August by RVCVB

Recommended if you like:  La Machine, Tortoise, Fridge

An interesting record released last month by the Steak And Cake Records crew including label head Brandon Schila, July/August is a listing of jams recorded as what seems like a one-off project called RVCVB (which apparently stands for Rat, Cat, Bat). The album is 24 tracks long and includes multiple tracks that run more than 10 minutes long. Most of these sound like noodlings or off the cuff recordings, but they make good background for a lazy day at work.
