Album:  Night Slaves II by Night Slaves  Recommended if you like:  Swans, Container, Nine Inch Nails

The electronic, noise, ambient, groove duo Night Slaves, John Toohill and David Kane, have just released their second cassette tape. The record begins with an atmospheric noise track “Seasons Separating” before moving into the more groovy “World at Night,”—a nightmarish electro-groove that sets the style for the next track “Black Bug” before devolving again into a fuzzy noise puddle for slow “Slow Bug.” The final track, “Lord of the Lost” is a 20-minute long ambient music track speckled with some spoken word and synth blasts. Night Slaves will celebrate the release of Night Slaves II at Mohawk Place on Saturday, October 8 with support from Cages, Be Locust or Alone, Ex-Pat, and Flesh.

Single:  The Copper Menace by Astronaut Head  Recommended if you like:  Lucius, Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent

Astronaut Head is music producer Jessica Stoddard. Her upcoming release is titled Relaunch and features four sprawling, at times epic tracks that range from symphonic pop compositions to soaring electronics-based tracks. Her first single from the record, The Copper Menance was released recently and features a minimal composition, mostly piano and Stoddard’s harmonic vocals, punctuated by percussive buildups.
