Editor’s note: Each week Buffalo lifestyle brand Rise Collaborative scour Instagram for their favorite locally sourced images. Each Friday we at The Public will feature a few of their favorites, along with a little bit of info from the photographers themselves. To submit your Instagram photo use the hashtag #FFRisePublic

“The Richardson Complex grounds, despite undergoing functional iterations over the years, still serve the same purpose for which they were originally intended; nature-inspired mental clarity. Though the meandering, crushed-stone paths, abundant flower beds and ancient trees have a pastoral effect, a quick glance toward the rusty balcony cages in a foggy twilight haze negates whatever tranquility the park offers. I hope the building’s more ethereal residents finally find rest in the comfort of a hotel bed.”

“The replica statue of David by Michelangelo in Delaware Park will forever be to me the “naked guy.” As a kid, when my parents would take me sledding in the park or just driving by on the highway, I’d say, ‘Hey! there’s the naked guy,’ knowing that I was close to Delaware Park. Today, as an adult who likes classic cinema, the statue also reminds me of the graveyard scene in the film Zoolander when Ben Stiller discovers male model Vin Correjo’s grave stone featuring the former model’s chiseled stone butt above the words ‘Derriere Extraordinaire.’”

“Over the last few years, the lighthouse has become very symbolic in my life. It is a constant reminder that no matter the journey, its guiding light shines over the unpredictable tides of life to safely bring us to steady ground. In life, you will encounter smooth sailing and treacherous waves, but the ever calm glow of the lighthouse will always be there to guide you home. Don’t give up the ship.”

“Buffalo summers are amazing! Our city is one of the few populated areas on the East coast that see sunsets over water. This shot is of my nephew Parker. This little guy lives and goes to school in South Buffalo, but spends much of his summer enjoying a beach cottage south of the city. This black and white shot captures his joy of our irreplaceable asset, Lake Erie.”
