“So the lightning photo I took was from my patio on Allen (near Main). The lightning show was pretty sick but I noticed that I could always see HSBC tower,  so I took a chance I wouldn’t get hit by lightning and McGyvered a tripod (a ladder, some boxes, and a book) because I needed to get up high. I used my Nikon D60 and a slow shutter, and hoped I would get a good shot. As far as my photos from around the city, the city is fucking awesome and I want to capture it. I’m a transplant from central New York and I love this place. I want to capture the awesomeness that I see going on and share it with people. I’m always finding somewhere new to explore and photograph.

I took that shot in Buffalo City Hall in the Council Chambers a few years ago with my Nikon D5100. I thought the stained glass was beautiful. I love how you can check this place out as long as business isn’t being conducted at the time. I love being a tourist in my own town. I use my Nikon D5100 as well as my Samsung Galaxy S5 for my images. Whenever I have a free moment, I try to find something new in Western New York or try a different take on something I have already seen. I try to explore everything around me wherever I am.

This photo was taken at high falls in Rochester. It was a candid photo of my close friend whilst we were shooting for my short film. High Falls is one of many hidden gems Rochester has to offer and it’s where I spend a lot of my time doing photo and video work. I’m a filmmaker/photographer of three years. I do a lot of freelance work on the side as well as working in a production company as well. The content I produce revolves around being free spirited and being open minded of the challenges life throws at you. My main goal in my work is to be able to give the viewer a sense of excitement and inspiration to go outside and explore the area they live. Go outside and explore!

Every week we find photos that come across our feed, and search through relevant regional hashtags to find the beautiful, the rare, and the funny photos from around town. We’ll reach out to you for the stories behind them to share with The Public. You can tell us how you found your photo, or you can make up some bat shit crazy story. We love it all. Use #FFRisePublic on your photos to help us find them, and please keep your eyes peeled for a GIANT photography expedition being announced in the next few weeks. Happy Friday ya’ll.
