43North, the world’s largest business idea competition, is making headway into their second year of operation and has recently announced their 2015 semifinalists. If you are unaware of 43North or think it’s just a dilipidated address on North Street in Buffalo, allow me to me fill you in.

Acting as one of the most competitive and rewarding business competitions in the world, 43North awards $5 million in cash prizes every year to a selection of the most ambitious and promising entrepreneurs and startups from around the globe to set up shop in Buffalo. In addition to a piece of the $5 million pie, the winners received incubator space, mentorship opportunities and tax breaks. For 2014 finalist information, click here. 

43North launched in Buffalo’s medical district on Ellicott Street in 2014 and now their inaugural group of 11 winning teams have been working in their incubator space for just under a year. 

This year’s 110 semifinalists hail from locations found around the globe. From Brooklyn to India, Los Angeles to Brazil, Toronto to Costa Rica as well as a number from Buffalo, NY.
