Album:  Keep Him on Your Mind by Andy Pothier

Recommended if you like:  Iron & Wine, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan

Drummer of Pine Fever and probably several other bands you’ve listened to half drunk in a bar in Allentown, Andy Pothier has been grinding in the local music scene for several years. His many projects have produced hours of music from several genres, but maybe none as personal as the music from his new album, Keep Him on Your Mind. The four song EP is full of lo-fi indie-folk music that highlights Pothier’s lyricism and sweet guitar strumming. Highlights include the Iron & Wine-esque “Three Oaks, MI” and the emotional album-opener “Fleeting, Faint Whisper.”

 Video:  “Congratulations” by Super American

RIYL:  Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World, Cute is What We Aim For

Supremely emo pop-punk band Super American have released a lyric video for their latest single, “Congratulations.” The hyper-polished pop-punk tune is equal parts Blink 182 and Taking Back Sunday, by a band made up of a who’s who of musicians from defunct local bands like Cute is What We Aim For, I Can See Mountains, and Lovey.
