There are many places in WNY where you can go outdoors, enjoy fresh air, enjoy the waters of Lake Erie, enjoy the shoreline, enjoy birds, butterflies, and other wildlife, and bring the kids and the old folks. But there is only one place that you can do this all downtown. Times Beach Nature Preserve on Buffalo’s Outer Harbor is that place.
One of the biggest perks is that, durng the summer months, you can get to the Outer Harbor from downtown. A regular bike and pedestrian Ferry runs all summer on a very regular schedule and travels from Canalside to the Outer Harbor at the landing just across Furhmann Blvd from the Times Beach Nature Preserve. The biggest bonus is that this ferry only costs $1 each way. If you go there, here are some of the things that you can see:

Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper is hosting monthly clean-ups at Times Beach Nature Preserve. They are looking for volunteers to help pick up trash.
Dates are Saturdays this Summer.
