Editor’s note: Each week Buffalo lifestyle brand Rise Collaborative scour Instagram for their favorite locally sourced images. Each Friday we at The Public will feature a few of their favorites, along with a little bit of info from the photographers themselves. To submit your Instagram photo use the hashtag #FFRisePublic.

We at Rise Collaborative saw runners with flags and those sharp RWB shirts all over the marathon, but also running through Delaware park and at other area races. When we discovered this photo, we wanted to know more about the organization that seems to keep growing. Emma Richards, who shot this photo, and Brenden Finn put us in contact with Meaghan Pacer, Buffalo and National Social Director for RWB which stands for Team Red, White, & Blue.

“RWB is all about helping veterans coming back from combat reintegrate into the community through physical and social activities. We try to accommodate everyone. If you’re not running in the races, you can still get involved by volunteering for the water stops or helping with coordination. We run every Wednesday either in Delaware Park or somewhere in the city. We also do pilates, yoga, go to Bisons games, paddle boarding, and we even held a Stars & Stripes Soiree at the Mansion on Delaware. To learn more about the organization, head to TeamRWB.org.”

“Sam and I (Beth) were living in Pittsburgh for the last seven years. Sam’s originally from North Buffalo and I am from south of Erie, PA. While we lived in Pittsburgh, we were both able to start our own businesses—Sam runs a web development/SEO company called theBrewRoom and I am a photographer. We knew we wanted to eventually end up in Buffalo to be closer to family and decided to just go for it! When we arrived, we were instantly inspired by the excitement and love people have for this city. We knew right away we wanted to be a part of the positivity. Since we have always had a passion for helping and encouraging others to start up their own business endeavors, we started working on Yeah! Buffalo—another blog which will feature local businesses and the people who make them run.”

“Overhead of the Canalside Carnival I personally never thought I’d be on Buffalo’s waterfront five years ago. I relocated to Buffao two years ago from Florida. In the past two years, I’ve been amazed about how much has changed, and Canalside has become one of my favorite destinations. The carnival was a lot of fun and I hope they continue it every year. It was, by far, one of my favorite waterfront events I’ve been to. I moved here for work—I was recruited. I didn’t know anyone in Buffalo when I got here—I had never even been to Buffalo before. And yes, I was really skeptical about leaving the beach for snow, but I really love Buffalo and I’m glad I made the move.”

“I took GO! last Friday while playing hookie from the office. I ventured to the top of the First Niagara parking ramp to scope out Cobblestone, not aware that this was even being done. As far as taking pics in Buffalo, I try to go somewhere different every week. My favorite things to shoot are streetscapes and people.”

GO!
